Heavy Rain with zombies. That’s the best way to sum up Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: A New Day - the first episode of five planned installments. When you first hear the phrase “Walking Dead video game,” your brain automatically dreams up something more akin to the Resident Evil franchise: conserving ammo and blasting away rotting dead things. Instead, Telltale focused on what lies at the very heart of Walking Dead: moral conflict and character interaction. If you’re looking for a mindless shoot-em-up gorefest, this is NOT the game for you.
[AWESOME] Quality voice acting, expressive character design that brings the comic’s art style to life, branching paths that will have you wanting to replay chapters more than once.
[NOT AWESOME] Fixed camera angles make walking around cumbersome at times, branching dialogue trees don’t always give you enough time to read all the choices before answering and sometimes your answers won’t register.
